Comparing 3 advertisement campaigns

Old Spice

Old Spice being an over 70 year old company, their target audience were the older generation this meant that they were not a lot of money. They decided to introduce this campaign to try and stay relevant and appeal to a different type of audience, this being young men aged 20-30. One of their adverts was an instant hit, it gained over 65 million views on YouTube and gained a lot of attention. One of its advertisements was called, 'The Man Your Man Could Smell Like' this was their first women and men focused advert and it ended up making women responsible for over 50% of the purchases after the advert were public.

Red Bull

Red Bull adverts use to have the slogan, 'Red Bull Gives You Wings' and use to play off this in their adverts, they would show someone drinking a Red Bull and gaining wings. People took this seriously and they ended up having to remove the adverts for false advertisement and for the customers safety. They ended up having to pay £13 million back between all of its customers that had claimed to have bought a drink for the past 10 years, for 2014. This advert like Old Spice gained a lot of publicity, however it was all for the wrong reasons. Both of the campaigns had quite smart adverts that were iconic when they were being aired, people use to instantly know what was being advertised when they were being shown.

Compare the Market

This campaign has been going on for years due to its high success. The adverts features a meerkat that explains to the audience that their company is called Compare the Meerkat, when it is actually called Compare the Market they make this very clear in the advertisements to avoid anymore confusion. when you go to comparethemeerkat.com there are many ways to get sent to the market website. Out of all 3 of the campaigns this was the most successful and gained the most publicity. This is due to the advert being family friendly and having a un-annoying character. This campaign is also the one to last the longest out of the three.
